Something now common for Gorillaz is frequent collaborators, but with the first album it was relativitely smaller and more nicher compared to today! Dan the Automater, was hired and collaborated with Damon Albarn to produce this album, while the songs contain vocals from Del the Funky Homosapien, who appeared on tracks Clint Eastwood (Rap Segment) and Rock the House (Main Vocalist), Miho Hatori, who appeared on tracks 19-2000 (Vocal Segments), and Re-Hash (Backup Vocals), and Ibrahim Ferrer, who collaborated on Latin Simone (¿Qué Pasa Contigo? (Lead Vocals))
Singles released for this album are in this particular order; November 25, 2000 seeing the first single of the band's history; Tomorrow Comes Today. This single marked the true start of the band, and was celebrated in June 20th, 2025, with a 25th Anniversary Vinyl rerelease.
The next single that would release would be Clint Eastwood, on March 5th, 2001. This was the band's first true hit, with the song SLAMMING onto the top charts in the UK and US in the top 10, with the music video garnishing award nominations and awards.
After the album's release in 2001, the Gorillaz proceeded to release two more singles to get people to listen to the album. First of these two, was 19-2000, which was released on June 25th, 2001. It was a rather successful song in it's own means, releasing with a music video and a playable Geep 3-D Sim alongside it.
